Biography
Eduardo Freire Nakamura received a BS (1998) in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Amazonas, MS (2001) and PhD (2007) in Computer Science from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is a professor at the Center of Analysis, Research and Technological Innovation (FUCAPI), Brazil, and at the Graduate Program of the Federal University of Amazonas, Brazil. His main interests are ad hoc and wireless sensor networks, mobile computing, and pervasive systems. Since 2007, he has been coordinating/
collaborating with seven research project in sensor networks. He is a member of the IEEE, IEEE ComSoc, ACM, ACM SIGCOMM, and ACM SIGMOBILE. In the last two years, he has been acting as a TPC member of several high quality international conferences, such as IEEE Globecom, IEEE PIMRC, IEEE WCNC, IEEE AINA, IEEE ICCCN, IEEE ISSNIP, ACM SAC, and IFIP Wireless Days. He is an Associate Editor of the International Journal on Network Protocols and Algorithms in the area of Ad hoc and Sensor Networks. He has more than 50 publications among international journals, conferences, and book chapters. He is the author of four tutorials about sensor networks in international conferences (IEEE CIT, ACM SIGMOD, ACM DEBS, and ACM MSWiM). His PhD thesis received the two major awards in Brazil (granted by the Brazilian Ministry of Education): The 2008 CAPES PhD Thesis Award (Best PhD Thesis in Computer Science) and the 2008 CAPES Great PhD Thesis Award (Best PhD Thesis in Engineering and Exact and Earth Sciences).
