Intel VACANTE 567816 — Senior BIOS Engineer

Primary Location: México, Guadalajara

Description

You would be responsible for setting technical direction for a small team of Basic Input Output System (BIOS) developers while also developing platform BIOS reference code and related documentation for use in post-silicon system validation of Intel IA32 silicon products. You will also be responsible for authoring BIOS specifications, creating silicon reference code and developing and/or supporting platform BIOS for Intel’s CPUs and chipsets. Work closely with Intel silicon design teams and be responsible for all software and BIOS related issues during the planning, development and validation stages of the program. You would also be responsible for supporting all activities including debug and root cause issues and resolving BIOS issues reported by all partner validation groups. You will be expected to apply software engineering principles to improve quality and efficiency. Work with many post-silicon validation customers.

Qualifications

You should possess a Bachelor of Science degree or better in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields with more than five years of previous working experience in a related area. Additional qualifications include: Experience in low level programming areas such as firmware, embedded or real time programming, or drivers development. Working knowledge in software engineering development process, project life cycle, PC Basic Input Output System (BIOS) architecture and server PC operating systems. UEFI development Background and good understanding of HW, and basic PC architecture. Experience or knowledge in BIOS fields: PnP, memory algorithms, Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI), Extensible Firmware Interface (EFI), APM and Server Management Solid x86 assembly language and C programming experience. Clear understanding of Intel x86 architecture and bus protocols such as Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI), system interrupts and memory management. Knowledge of Serial bus architecture (PCIE, SATA, USB, QPI) and Front Side Bus frequency (FSB) Familiarity with In-Target Probe (ITP) and logic analyzers Excellent system level debugging skills; Ability to program in real and protected mode – Strong project management skills – Excellent communication skills in order to lead and manage BIOS project team meetings – Excellent documentation skills in order to create document, track and plan sustaining engineering work – Ability to work well in a diverse team environment – Ability to work well with others in cross-site organizations – Ability to multitask – Knowledge of the Framework* code base would be an added advantage
